As the tenure of each state governor comes to an end, I find myself embarking on a familiar journey – driving around the state, visiting all 20 local governments and 236 wards. It has become somewhat of a tradition for me to reconnect with my friends and political associates, offering words of encouragement and support as they navigate through the challenges of governance. However, this journey serves a greater purpose than just socializing; it allows me to gain a deeper understanding of the issues facing our communities and to assess the performance of our local leaders.

During my visits, I often find myself engaged in meaningful conversations with the residents of each local government. They express their concerns and frustrations about the lack of development in their communities, pointing fingers at both the local government chairmen and the state government. Many lament the absence of visible deliverables, highlighting the need for tangible progress and improvement in basic infrastructure such as roads, schools, and healthcare facilities.

One common theme that emerges throughout these discussions is a sense of disappointment and disillusionment with the current state of governance. Residents feel abandoned and neglected, left to fend for themselves in the face of crumbling infrastructure and deteriorating living conditions. The lack of accountability and transparency in the management of public funds further exacerbates the situation, breeding a culture of apathy and distrust among the populace.

As we go around evaluating projects in each local government, the stark reality of the situation becomes even more apparent. Many projects are incomplete or abandoned, serving as painful reminders of unfulfilled promises and wasted resources. The sorry state of our roads, schools, and hospitals stands as a testament to the failure of leadership at both the local and state levels.

Despite the challenges we face, I remain hopeful that change is possible. Through dialogue and collaboration, we can work together to hold our leaders accountable and demand better governance for our communities. By actively engaging with residents and listening to their concerns, we can empower them to take ownership of their development and become agents of change in their own right.

It is clear that a paradigm shift is needed in the way we approach governance and development in our state. We must move away from the politics of patronage and cronyism towards a system that is transparent, inclusive, and responsive to the needs of the people. Only by fostering a culture of accountability and collaboration can we hope to build a brighter future for our communities.

As I conclude my journey through the state, I am reminded of the power of collective action and the resilience of the human spirit. Despite our challenges, there is a sense of unity and determination among the residents to build a better tomorrow. It is this spirit of hope and solidarity that gives me confidence that we can overcome our obstacles and create a more prosperous and equitable society for all.

In the end, my visits to the local governments serve as a poignant reminder of the work that lies ahead. By continuing to engage with residents, advocate for change, and hold our leaders accountable, we can pave the way for a brighter future for our state. Together, we can build a more inclusive and sustainable society that reflects the values of justice, equality, and progress.

This gives me the perfect opportunity to re-establish my relationship with political associates that I had met during my wards to wards visiting in 2009 and 2010. These visits were crucial for me to connect with the people in various communities and understand their needs and concerns. However, as time passed, I lost touch with some of these associates, but I was determined to reconnect with them during my recent visit.

As I met with my political associates, I was pleasantly surprised to find that they were happy to see me and were eager to catch up. It was a heartwarming experience to rekindle old friendships and strengthen political alliances that had been dormant for years. The conversations we had were filled with reminiscences of the past and discussions about the current political landscape.

One of the most somber moments during my visit was when I realized that some of my political associates had passed away without my knowledge. It was a painful realization that I had missed the opportunity to pay my last respects to these individuals who had played a significant role in shaping my political journey. I made a mental note to honor their memory and keep them in my thoughts and prayers.

However, amidst the sorrow of losing some of my peers, I was struck by the incredible performance of the current Governor of Ogun State, Prince Dapo Abiodun. Everywhere I went, I witnessed the positive impact of his governance in all areas, from road infrastructure to education and healthcare delivery. The transformation that I saw in the communities was truly impressive, and it was a testament to the dedication and hard work of the Governor and his team.

One of the most striking aspects of Governor Abiodun’s administration was the support that people claimed to receive through monthly payments into their accounts. This innovative approach to social welfare was a game-changer for many families who had been struggling to make ends meet. The Governor’s commitment to improving the lives of the citizens was evident in every initiative that he implemented, and it was heartening to see the positive results firsthand.

As I reflected on the progress that Ogun State had made under Governor Abiodun’s leadership, I couldn’t help but feel inspired and hopeful for the future. The tangible improvements in infrastructure, education, and healthcare were a clear indication that effective governance could make a real difference in people’s lives. The Governor’s vision for a prosperous and inclusive society was being realized, and it was a testament to his leadership and commitment to public service.

My reconnection with my political associates and the revelations of Governor Abiodun’s achievements left me with a sense of optimism and renewed energy for my own political endeavors. The conversations that I had with my peers rekindled my passion for community engagement and public service, and I was reminded of the importance of staying connected with the people who have supported me throughout my political journey.

During the recent visit to Ogun State was a poignant reminder of the power of political relationships and the impact of effective governance on people’s lives. Reconnecting with my political associates and witnessing the remarkable progress under Governor Abiodun’s administration was a transformative experience that reignited my commitment to serving the people and making a positive difference in society. With renewed purpose and determination, I look forward to continuing my political journey and contributing to the advancement of my community and country.

I cannot help but marvel at the accomplishments of Prince Dapo Abiodun, the silent performer who has managed to achieve so much without the usual fanfare that we have come to expect from many state governors in Nigeria. In a country where it has become almost a ritual for political leaders to commission boreholes and transformers with much pomp and circumstance, Prince Dapo Abiodun stands out for his understated approach to governance.

What is even more impressive is that despite his lack of media blitz, Prince Dapo Abiodun has managed to achieve a great deal in a relatively short period of time. From infrastructure development to healthcare, education, and agriculture, his administration has made significant strides in improving the lives of the people of Ogun State.

One cannot help but wonder how he has been able to accomplish so much without the usual noise and attention that comes with such achievements. Could it be that his media handlers are focusing on a different strategy, one that prioritizes substance over showmanship? Or perhaps Prince Dapo Abiodun simply prefers to let his actions speak for themselves, allowing the results of his governance to speak louder than any flashy commissioning ceremony ever could.

Regardless of the reason, one thing is clear: Prince Dapo Abiodun’s focus on delivering results rather than seeking attention is a refreshing change from the norm. His commitment to improving the lives of the people of Ogun State, without the need for constant self-promotion, is a testament to his dedication to public service.

As I reflect on the achievements of Prince Dapo Abiodun, I cannot help but wonder if the standards he has set will be maintained by future leaders in Ogun State. Will they continue to prioritize the needs of the people over the desire for media attention? Will they be able to resist the temptation to seek validation through flashy commissioning ceremonies, and instead focus on delivering real, tangible results for their constituents?

Only time will tell, but I am hopeful that the legacy of Prince Dapo Abiodun will serve as a blueprint for future leaders in Ogun State. His quiet, yet effective approach to governance has proven that it is possible to make a meaningful impact without the need for constant self-aggrandizement. I can only hope that his successors will follow in his footsteps, continuing the work that he has started and building upon the foundation that he has laid.

As I prepare for my next pilgrimage to the 236 wards of Ogun State, I look forward to seeing the progress that has been made since my last visit. I am eager to witness firsthand the changes that have taken place, thanks to the leadership of Prince Dapo Abiodun and his administration. And as I travel throughout the state, I will keep a close eye on the developments that unfold, hoping that the standards set by this silent performer will endure long after his time in office has ended.

In conclusion, Prince Dapo Abiodun has proven that it is possible to govern effectively without the need for constant media attention. His focus on delivering results over seeking validation has set a new standard for governance in Ogun State, one that I hope will be maintained by future leaders. I am grateful for the opportunity to witness the impact of his leadership firsthand, and I look forward to seeing the continued progress that will be made in the months and years to come.
