THE NOTION THAT BEING POOR CAN STOP REVOLT IS UNFOUNDED- Abayomi Odunowo

It is appalling to hear such insensitive and baseless statements made by Governor Lamido regarding the impact of poverty on the masses’ ability to revolt or break up. Where did he draw this hypothesis from, and how could he overlook the resilience and determination of the Nigerian people who have historically risen up against adversity?

First and foremost, it is important to acknowledge the efforts of all the Tinubu support groups, particularly the Asiwaju Ahmed Tinubu Support Group (AATSG), who have tirelessly worked to encourage the masses across the 176,800 polling units that the renewed Hope agenda is genuine and that President Tinubu is genuinely committed to ensuring the wellbeing of all Nigerians. This message of hope and reassurance has been crucial in alleviating the hardships that people are facing due to the exorbitant cost of living in the country.

To dismiss Governor Lamido’s words as insensitive is an understatement. His statement has the potential to destabilize the government and undermine the hard work that President Tinubu and his administration are doing to uplift the nation. It is crucial for Nigerians to reject such damaging rhetoric and instead focus on the progress being made in addressing the challenges faced by the country.

It is essential for individuals like Governor Lamido to read up on history and understand the power of the people in driving change. Throughout history, we have witnessed countless examples of impoverished and oppressed populations rising up against injustice and tyranny. The Nigerian people are no exception. They have shown time and again that they will not stand for inequality and adversity.

Moreover, it is important for Governor Lamido to recognize that the majority of the elite are sympathetic to the issues at hand and that everyone has been affected by the prevailing economic hardships. The unity of Nigeria can only be assured when there is equity and justice for all. President Tinubu’s administration has made significant strides in ensuring the fair distribution of resources and the administration of justice. It is crucial to acknowledge and appreciate these efforts rather than undermine them with baseless and derogatory remarks.

In conclusion, the words of Governor Lamido are not only insensitive but also damaging to the morale of the Nigerian people. It is essential for all Nigerians to unite in rejecting such harmful rhetoric and instead focus on the positive strides being made in addressing the challenges faced by the nation. President Tinubu’s commitment to equity and justice is evident, and it is crucial to support and acknowledge these efforts. Let us not be deterred by negativity but instead rally together in hope, unity, and resilience.
